Port Fairy recruit Rebecca Mitchell speaks to The Standard about her return to the Hampden league in 2024.

00:04 How does it feel to link up with the Seagulls?

00:06 Yeah, super excited. Lisa got on to me pretty early.

00:10 Been in talks there and she got me over the line.

00:14 Absolutely thrilled. She's got really exciting things happening.

00:17 Not only Lisa herself, but the whole club.

00:19 So, super excited to be joining them.

00:21 Obviously, coached against Lisa in the District League.

00:24 What have you just seen from the calibre of coaching that she's going to bring to the Seagulls?

00:28 I speak really highly of Lisa in and outside of netball.

00:34 Coached against her, but she's been a good friend along the way.

00:39 Definitely excited to learn new things off her this season.

00:42 You wanted to come back to the Hamden League.

00:45 What are you feeling in terms of what you can achieve on the netball court, focusing on that playing role?

00:51 Yeah, I suppose taking a step back now.

00:54 Three seasons being in A-grade playing coaches.

00:57 I really wanted to take a step back and focus on my individual goal.

01:00 That's just improving my netball.

01:03 Fitting into, hopefully, the senior side there.

01:06 They've all been very welcoming.

01:08 Hopefully, I can do what they need for the season.

01:12 Excited to get into pre-season.

01:14 Obviously, the season's only just finished, but it quickly comes around again.

01:18 Are you excited for the summer? Starting to get to work?

01:21 Yeah, it's our first pre-season next week.

01:24 Super keen to get back running.

01:27 Haven't really stopped, so it's a good vibe throughout the club.

01:32 Everyone's super excited to get stuck into it and we'll start next week.

01:36 It'll be a very strong lead up until Christmas and then a strong January onwards leading up to the season starting.
