Merseyside saw a 26 per cent decrease in emergency calls and a reduction of 30 per cent in anti-social behaviour and criminal damage in comparison to Halloween night in 2022. Officers carried out stop searches through the evening and six arrests were made.

A commemorative plaque has been unveiled in Chester, honouring a firefighter who lost his life during an air raid during WWII. Despite being off duty, Cyril Dutton volunteered to assist in fighting a fire while bombing was still ongoing.
