Eurovision gave Liverpool £55M boost - LiverpoolWorld Headlines

The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 delivered a £54million economic boost to the region. Five independent evaluation results were revealed at an event in the ACC Liverpool. More than 300,000 people attended Eurovision-related events during May.

A watchdog council committee said it was satisfied the rising costs and contracts for the controversial West Kirby sea wall were "in accordance with the law." The scheme, aims to protect 70 properties as well as save lives. Work on the wall was completed in September 2023 with a final budget of £19.7m compared to an initial budget of £9.6m. The council’s own contribution to the project has not increased.

More than 1,500 young people in Liverpool will be able to enjoy safe activities this Halloween and Bonfire Night, thanks to the Merseyside Police Commissioner's Youth Diversion Fund. 24 grassroots initiatives – eight of them in Liverpool – will receive grants.
