Britain's grass track star Vince Kinchin, 42-years-old, died in consequence of an accident which occurred during the 90th edition of the Teterower Internationalen Bergingrennen held in Teterow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, on Tuesday, 25 May 2010.

During the first 500 cm3 solo class repechage race in early afternoon, Vince Kinchin crashed hard in the northern curve of the grass track, after a collision with the machine of a fallen rider. Gravely injured, Kinchin was taken to Güstrow hospital, some 25 kilometers from the track. A few hours later he succumbed to his injuries.

As the news of the tragedy reached the Teterow circuit about 16h30, the meeting was subsequently abandoned, before the start of the first final race. All the riders donated their entry fee to Kinchin's family.

Vince Kinchin was survived by his wife and their two children. This was reported to be the fifth fatality in the race history of the Teterower Bergring, which Kinchin had described as his favorite grass track in Europe. The first edition of the classic grass track race was held at Teterow in 1930.

The son of a talented speedway rider, Vincent Kinchin, "Vince" as he was known, made his motorcycle debut at the age of 11. He became a top-level long track and grass track racer, winning six times the South East England Championship and finishing ten times among the top ten in the British Masters Championship, between 1998 and 2001. In 2001 he qualified for the final of the European Grass Track Championships. In 2008 he scored his greatest international success as a member of the British team which took the third place in the team competition of the long track World Championships held at Werlte, Niedersachsen, Germany.
