1989 adverts - Oliver Twist (1948)

These are adverts that were shown during the broadcast of the David Lean film Oliver Twist in 1989. These are surprisingly comforting to watch during these times - certainly compared to today's depressing ads - and there are a number of ad breaks (4 in all) this time as well. There are also a couple of familiar faces among the adverts. Some, like Billy Connolly and Faith Brown, are easily recognisable, but in case you are wondering about where you've seen the actress in the Clover advert, it is Victoria Williams of kids TV show The Riddlers (1989-1998). The adverts are as follows:
1st break: Clover Butter (Perfect day - Victoria Williams); Babysham (Posh couple in punk bar); Royal Mail stamp book; Steakhouse Chick Sticks (Kid plays Bogart while dining girl); P&O Ferries (cartoon) and Coast Toothpaste.
2nd break: Milton Keynes advert (Boy with balloon); Barclays Bank (Lodger & landlady - Faith Brown); Wessex Ellard garage doors, and Royal Mail stamp book.
3rd break: Special K cereal (swimming pool breakfast); Clover Butter (Victoria Williams); Friskies Buffet dogfood (Thank you for being a Friend); Kaliber Lager (3 in 1 lager - Billy Connolly); P&O Ferries (cartoon), and Babysham (Punk bar).
4th break: Finale non aerosol hairspray; Tennents Lager (Reporter's 'drone' photo copter story); Royal Mail stamp book; Crunchy Nut cornflakes (Removal men); P&O Ferries (cartoon); and Babysham (Punk bar).
