Chevron Halts Gas Exports Through East Mediterranean Pipeline Amidst Escalating Israel-Gaza Conflict
  • 7 months ago
Chevron has halted natural gas exports through the East Mediterranean Gas pipeline between Israel and Egypt due to intensifying fighting between Israel and militants in the Gaza Strip. As a result, all gas exports from Israel to Egypt have been rerouted through the alternative FAJR pipeline, which links Jordan to Egypt. The EMG pipeline runs from the southern Israeli town of Ashkelon to El-Arish in Egypt. It is the main pipeline exporting gas from Chevron's Leviathan offshore gas field. Operations at Israel's Tamar gas field off the coast of Gaza were suspended due to the violence. Gas exports from Leviathan to Egypt remain close to agreed quota levels, with volumes slightly reduced to prioritize domestic supply in Israel during the conflict period.
