Japan's Ministry of Finance announced on Thursday that the volume of etching gas exported from Tokyo to Seoul plunged by 83-point-7 percent in July compared to the previous month.
According to Asahi Shimbun, around 3-point-8 million U.S. dollars of the gas was exported in July, down 32-point-6 percent compared to June.
The sharp drop is seen as a result of Japan's export restrictions on fluorinated polyimides, photoresists and etching gas which are used for the production of chips and displays for smartphones and TVs. The restrictions took effect on July 4th.
Kyodo News agency reported that Japan's Finance Ministry did not have statistics on fluorinated polyimides and photoresists.
