00:00 The prosecution has identified 13 reasons why the High Court was wrong to acquit and
00:05 discharge former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin of four accounts of abuse of power
00:10 in connection with his administration's Janawi Bawar program.
00:14 In a petition of appeal filed last week, the prosecution argued that Justice Jamil Hussein
00:18 had erred both in law and on the facts by arbitrarily using his revisionary powers to
00:23 strike out the charges brought against Muhyiddin.
00:26 The prosecution also said the charges have been properly framed in law.
00:30 It said the judge had exercised his powers of revision arbitrarily and dismissed the
00:34 charges prematurely as the matter had not yet gone to trial.
00:38 The prosecution also said the judge was wrong to deny the opportunity to lead evidence at
00:42 trial through witnesses and documents and to amend the charges if necessary.
00:46 The filing also said the judge failed to recognize that the MACC Act was passed to fight corruption
00:51 against individuals, groups, business entities, and organizations.
00:55 The Court of Appeal has fixed February 28th and 29th next year to hear the challenge.
