Agong visits National Wildlife Rescue Centre in Sungkai

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Thursday (September 21) visited the National Wildlife Rescue Centre (NWRC) in Sungkai, Perak.
His Majesty was accompanied by the Sultan of Perak and the Regent of Pahang in the visit, which began at about 11.30am.

The King was briefed by a Pahilitan officer on the Centre's operations and also witnessed

the Wildlife Conservation Initiatives for Malayan Tigers, Sun Bears, Gau and Tabir.

The Centre serves as a temporary settlement of seized wildlife under the International

Trade in Endangered Species Act 2008. It also focuses on tiger conservation activities such

as rescue operations, rehabilitation, disease treatment and control, as well as research

and breeding using the latest technology. Pahilitan aims to increase the Malayan tiger

population to 400 in the next 10 years, from the current count of about 150.
