Little Burton residents feel 'isolated' by Stagecoach bus cuts

Resident Jodie Bruce says she feels 'let down' by Stagecoach bus cuts in Little Burton.

00:00 We finally found out about a week before they stopped.

00:04 Up until that point we had been promised that our estate wouldn't be affected.

00:10 I now, since it's been like this, I've been into town once a week.

00:16 I had thought about going in or going out to visit Bybrooke Barn

00:22 but the thought of doing both ways, I mean it's 10-15 minutes walk each way,

00:28 buying shopping and having to carry that with me, it's just put me off so I've stayed here.

00:34 It's bad enough when you're on your own.

00:37 The loneliness, I don't think it's describable.

00:40 People don't understand, they say lonely, they don't understand the word.

00:45 And just to get out, even if you are just with other people, don't speak to other people, is vastly important.

00:54 It feels as if you are part of something rather than just sitting here on your own

00:59 with your own thoughts going round your head, which isn't good for you.

01:03 I think it's our right that you do have some kind of transport.

01:08 It's more in the town than Kennington, we're closer to the town than Kennington and yet we get nothing.

01:15 Even to get up to the hospital, it's a five minute car journey from here up to the hospital.

01:23 For us, now it's even worse because we would have to go down, which is a 10-15 minute walk to get the bus into town.

01:32 We then have to wait for the C-Line to bring us all the way back up to right on our doorsteps.

01:39 So to get to the hospital, if you've got a hospital appointment, it's just impossible.

01:46 I just beg that the council and stagecoach get their heads together and realise that this situation cannot go on.
