00:00 Hello everyone, this is Charles from the Orchard Evening Post here at the site of the new Wendy's restaurant in Leeds City Centre

00:07 where I've been invited down ahead of the big opening tomorrow to try a few different things on the menu

00:14 It's the first time Wendy's has had a spot in Leeds for over 20 years

00:20 so yeah, it's kind of a big, part of a big push for the brand to kind of re-establish themselves in the UK

00:29 and yeah, so as part of that they've invited me down to try a few different things on the menu

00:36 and I was more than happy to accept, so as you can see I've got a few things to go through here

00:41 so I will give you my verdict

00:44 So what I've been made for my taster session is the double baconator

00:51 the baconator fries

00:54 a spicy chicken burger

00:57 medium fries

01:00 classic chicken nuggets

01:02 and the spicy chicken nuggets

01:05 Right, so I've had a sample of everything that was served up to me

01:11 and I have to say it's very good, very good indeed

01:16 I was speaking to the managers before, they emphasised, and I was asking

01:22 what's differentiating this place from the likes of Macca's or Burger King or Five Guys

01:28 and they said, you know, it's affordable but also everything's made fresh

01:33 and it does come through, especially with the baconator

01:41 and their thing as well is having square shaped food, well burgers they said

01:49 so that displays how they don't cut corners

01:53 but yeah, I want to say it was really good

01:57 really fresh, lovely sort of spicy sauce on the burger

02:03 so yeah, I was feasting on that, trying to control myself

02:08 because I realised I had to try and have a bit of everything

02:11 and I'm not particularly hungry, I just got told when I started my shift

02:16 that I was going to be trying everything at Wendy's

02:19 so, you know, one of the perks of being a journalist isn't there

02:23 but yeah, the cheesy fries as well, the baconator fries were really good

02:28 really succulent cheese here, really nice cheese sauce

02:34 yeah, great

02:36 and then the variety of chicken products which I was told is halal as well

02:42 it's not in every Wendy's but it is in this one in Leeds

02:46 which I can't remember if I mentioned is the biggest in the UK

02:50 again, great, really fresh

02:54 the spicy burger and spicy nuggets as well were, I don't know

02:58 yeah, sort of like a peppery kick to them as well which I wasn't expecting

03:02 just, I'm very, very impressed
