Two Leeds restaurants permanently closed

00:19proposals to axe around 1,500 jobs across the UK as part of plans to cut its chain of

00:25branded restaurants by more than 200.

00:28Whitbread said in April that the move was part of a plan to optimise its food and drink

00:32offering to add more than 3,500 hotel rooms across its estate.

00:37It said it planned to sell 126 of its less profitable branded restaurants, while 112

00:42would be converted into new hotel rooms.

00:45Speaking in April, Chief Executive Dominic Paul said the company recognises a transition

00:50will impact some team members, and they will be providing support throughout the process

00:55while retaining as many staff as possible.
