With the island’s students receiving their A-level results this week, we went along to Ballakermeen High School to speak to students finding out how they’ve done and what their future plans are.

00:00 I got ABC which is a couple of grades above what I needed for my final choice so that's good.

00:04 I got ABB which is like also more than I needed so I'm really happy with that.

00:08 I studied maths, physics and chemistry.

00:10 I studied maths, further maths and physics.

00:12 And how have you done today?

00:14 Very well thank you.

00:15 Yeah, how have you been?

00:16 Good enough for me, yeah.

00:17 Happy with your results, yeah?

00:18 Positively good.

00:19 Got into my uni of choice.

00:20 Which university is that?

00:22 University of Manchester.

00:23 And what's your plan?

00:24 I'm going to University of Edinburgh.

00:25 Okay, and what are you guys going to be studying when you're there?

00:28 I'm going to be studying physics.

00:30 I'm studying algebra.

00:31 I'm Cormac Ewan, I'm planning to go to university to study engineering.

00:34 And I believe you got into Oxford?

00:36 I did, yeah.

00:37 So your results must have been good then?

00:39 Yes, I'm very happy with them.

00:40 Yeah, and how much of the hard work was it these past two years, sixth form, compared to GCSE?

00:45 It was quite a big step up for me, even though, you know, doing fewer subjects.

00:51 But I think it's just the workload has changed and it's much more specific and there's a whole lot more content.

00:58 But being at Bellarmine, all the teachers were very friendly.

01:01 It was a nice step up and it felt like you were becoming more of a university type student.

01:06 I was doing ICT economics and maths.

01:09 And how have you done?

01:11 I did well in my maths.

01:13 No, my ICT and economics weren't well, my maths didn't go very well.

01:16 But are you happy?

01:17 I'm happy now, yeah, because I got what I needed.

01:19 And where are you off to?

01:20 Keele.

01:21 Okay, and what made you choose there?

01:23 Well, I went there just to have a look around and it was very nice.

01:28 It was very open, very green. I liked it. It was a very nice place.
