With the island’s students receiving their A-level results this week, we went along to Ballakermeen High School to speak to students finding out how they’ve done and what their future plans are.

I got ABC which is a couple of grades above what I needed for my final choice so that's good.

I got ABB which is like also more than I needed so I'm really happy with that.

And what's your plan?

I'm going to University of Edinburgh.

Okay, and what are you guys going to be studying when you're there?

I'm going to be studying physics.

I'm studying algebra.

I'm Cormac Ewan, I'm planning to go to university to study engineering.

And I believe you got into Oxford?

I did, yeah.

So your results must have been good then?

Yes, I'm very happy with them.

Yeah, and how much of the hard work was it these past two years, sixth form, compared to GCSE?

It was quite a big step up for me, even though, you know, doing fewer subjects.

But I think it's just the workload has changed and it's much more specific and there's a whole lot more content.

But being at Bellarmine, all the teachers were very friendly.

It was a nice step up and it felt like you were becoming more of a university type student.

I was doing ICT economics and maths.

And how have you done?

I did well in my maths.

No, my ICT and economics weren't well, my maths didn't go very well.

But are you happy?

I'm happy now, yeah, because I got what I needed.

And where are you off to?

Okay, and what made you choose there?

Well, I went there just to have a look around and it was very nice.

It was very open, very green. I liked it. It was a very nice place.
