GOP Rep: Trump Charges 'Overkill'

Republican lawmaker Ken Buck from Colorado has criticized the racketeering charges brought by Georgia against former President Donald Trump, deeming them overly broad. Buck, speaking in an MSNBC interview, compared the severity of the charges to a "nuclear bomb" when he believes a lesser charge would have been more appropriate. The charges in question stem from a Georgia grand jury indicting Trump and 18 co-defendants, focusing on their efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is leading the case. He employs the state's RICO law, originally designed in 1970 to combat organized crime, but which in Georgia can target a broader range of criminal enterprises.
