An opening loss but positives to take.

00:00 Will, just looking at Everton, did they show signs on their opener against Fulham that
00:04 they might be okay this season? Obviously they did actually create a lot of chances
00:09 moving forward. We said it's something that they needed to do. They looked like sort of
00:14 the better team for some of the games, certainly from what I saw. Do you think that they have
00:19 enough to avoid a relegation battle? I know it's only early and we only have one game
00:22 to go off, but what did you make of it?
00:24 Yes, certainly in the first half, they could have been 2-3, 3-0. They just couldn't take
00:30 the chances. And it just weren't Neil Mopi either. He was the one who was criticised
00:36 by supporters after the game. He had three chances, yes, he should have scored. But the
00:40 worst one for me was the corner. He was just right through on goal and could have squirted
00:44 it to James Garnes, who was right, and went for glory and saw his effort saved. I do understand
00:52 the argument where if you can't put the ball in the backhand of the net, you're not going
00:57 to win games. But I tend to agree with Sean Dye, you should be creating the chances. They
01:03 will eventually fall for you, but you have got to have that composure in front of goal.
01:10 So they just need to get on with Calvert-Lewinford, maybe another striker in, depending on what
01:18 they can do in the transfer market remaining. Obviously, Jeff Harrison coming in, so we'll
01:23 go on to him a little bit later. But yes, he definitely showed a little bit in the field.
01:29 He looked solid, that midfield pair of Jusit Garnaghey and Amazue Gunana in the first half
01:36 was a total force in the engine room. The back four still concerns me a little bit,
01:43 the way they conceded the goal. It was a nice link-up play from Fulham, but I thought a
01:48 couple of players got dragged out of position. Ashley Young caught on the turnover, and Michael
01:54 Keane and James Tarkowski maybe could have done a little bit more. It was disappointing
02:01 for Everton fans to see an open day defeat, but it's not like they got beat 1-0 and recreated
02:08 the day for chances. There was enough there to think that there will be positives going
02:12 forward, especially when better players can be deployed.
