Dr Betty Ge responds to Calvary countersuing junior doctors

Junior doctors have launched class action suits against Canberra Health Services and Calvary Health Care ACT. Calvary has countersued the lead applicant.

00:10 The initial response is quite shocked actually.

00:13 And out of disbelief, this is how they're going to treat their ex-employees, essentially.

00:20 And I think this, to some extent, speaks to the very culture we are trying to stand up to.

00:25 Essentially, it's this toxic and bullying culture.

00:29 And then if you are going to speak up against the management, against the authority,

00:34 they're going to come back to you and they're going to go after you and then threaten you with legal acts.

00:39 We're just really hoping that they don't go ahead with this counterclaim

00:44 because I think it's really not beneficial for anyone in this scenario.

00:48 So certainly it's very stressful for the doctors who are involved.

00:52 And I think it does not depict Calvary Hospital as a supportive employer for future doctors' recruitment.

01:00 So I think this is hurting everybody in the process.
