22 year old Adam Bricklebank opened his first restaurant and bar - Bricklebank's Cafe and Bar on Stainbeck Lane, Chapel Allerton in Leeds.

00:00 So I'm Adam Bricklebank, we're here in Chapel Allerton today and I've just opened my first

00:04 cafe and bar at age 22 and it's called Bricklebank's Cafe and Bar.

00:08 Can you just tell me why? Why here in Chapel Allerton and why a cafe bar?

00:13 Yeah, so when I was 14 I actually worked in my first cafe bar located in Heddenley and

00:19 I just loved working there, loved working in hospitality. I grew up working in hospitality

00:25 as well, so I've worked in restaurants, worked in management in restaurants and it just got

00:29 to the point where I decided, look, I want to do my own venture now and opened my first

00:33 business and this came up in Chapel Allerton and it's something I went for.

00:36 What was it before?

00:38 So it was a place called The Mad Greek, so it was a Greek takeaway here before.

00:43 And what work have you had to do to transform it into the venture it is today?

00:47 Well the question is, what work have I not done? So we've had to do a full rewire, we've

00:53 had a full shop front replacement, we've had sandblasting to get the beautiful exposed

00:57 brick walls, we've had new floors put in, we've had all new fire alarm systems and everything

01:02 put in, so it's been a lot of work, yeah.

01:05 And for such a young man, it's quite an adventure that you're going on.

01:09 It is, yeah. So from somebody not really knowing any DIY beforehand to opening my first site

01:15 and demolishing the place, it's quite an adventure to say the least, yeah.

01:19 And when did you open?

01:21 So I opened on Monday, so we wanted to do a soft launch at first between Monday and Wednesday,

01:27 just to get the staff of course ready to open to the public. And yeah, we opened at 6 o'clock

01:32 and by 7 o'clock we were completely full to the brim.

01:35 That must be really exciting that you've been taken to everyone's hearts here already.

01:40 Yeah, absolutely. There's been a lot of support shown, especially on social media as well.

01:45 There's a lot of people getting involved and engaged with the business and looking just

01:49 to see how far we can take the business to be honest.

01:52 And people who want to come down and see you, whereabouts are you?

01:55 Yeah, so we're in Chapel Allerton. So we are located on 14 St. Beck Lane and yeah,

02:01 we're open all day, every day, 9 until 11.

02:04 And lastly, what are you offering your customers?

02:07 So a unique experience to be honest. The model and the concept that I'd like to create is,

02:12 no matter what time of day it is, no matter what season it is,

02:15 no matter what month it is, you can still come. So whether it's summer, we've got the

02:20 beautiful open plan area, whether it's winter, we've got an enclosed space which is cozy,

02:25 warm and inviting and great food and great cocktails as well.
