00:03 Hi, we started Micromax in year 2000.

00:06 We started it as a IT software company.

00:09 We got into telecom business in 2005.

00:12 And 2008 was the time when we ventured into the mobile business.

00:17 That was the time when the market was dominated by all the MNC players of the world.

00:23 And all four of us, we are four partners, all four of us actually got on the board and

00:27 talking about why we should get into the mobile business, who will buy us.

00:31 In the electronic sector, Make in India is a very great opportunity for India.

00:37 After crude and after commodities, electronics is one category where in

00:43 India imports the maximum, all the items.

00:47 So if we manufacture all these electronics items in India,

00:51 I'm sure we are going to save a lot of forex.

00:54 We are going to generate a lot of employment for our Indian people.

00:57 So, Make in India is a great opportunity for electronic sector.

01:01 We thought of manufacturing in year 2011.

01:04 When nobody in India was talking about manufacturing of the mobile phones,

01:09 we saw it as an opportunity.

01:11 We came out with first manufacturing unit in Uttarachal,

01:16 that is a small factory we took up.

01:19 And we started the assembly of mobile phones in Uttarachal.

01:23 Today I'm proud to say we have 5,000 people working in a small factory in Rodhapur.

01:28 And we have a very, very ambitious plan to go for Make in India.

01:32 We want to put up five factories.

01:35 In the process, we already have a second factory operational in Telangana, which is Hyderabad.

01:40 And third factory, which is coming in Rajasthan.

01:42 And we are also planning for two more factories all across the country.

01:47 So, Make in India, we are committed for Make in India.

01:51 We intend to employ 25,000 people over a period of next two to three years.

01:55 And I strongly say that Make in India is a great opportunity in the electronic sector for India.

02:02 With the local production coming in, I think there is a big, very big opportunity

02:06 for all the small and medium enterprises as well.

02:09 When we got into Rodhapur and we started our production unit,

02:14 we gave not only employment of 5,000, direct employment to the people,

02:18 but we also gave our indirect employment to around 5,000 people in the city.

02:23 There is a lot of scope for small and medium enterprises.

02:28 There are people who do all the kind of plastic molding injections for us,

02:33 who do all the packaging for us.

02:37 And there are so many other units where all the small and medium enterprises have got a role to play.

02:42 Over a period of next three or four years, we think as an industry, we'll not even,

02:46 we, as an industry, we'll employ something around 100,000 people.

02:50 But maybe to boost the manufacturing, there is going to be multiple SME units also,

02:57 which will come up and which will support this domestic production of mobile phones in the country.

03:03 So, we at Micromax are building up the domestic production of all these smartphones that we are selling.

03:10 Today I'm proud to say that we are 50% of the smartphones that we are selling, we are producing in India.

03:16 But over a period of next one year, I think 100% of the smartphones that we sell, we'll produce in India.

03:22 And not about the domestic selling only, we are expanding internationally also.

03:27 We have an international presence in all the SAAR countries along with Russia.

03:32 And we intend and we have an ambitious plan to do the export also from India.
