A woman has given birth after spending £25 on her first attempt to artificially inseminate herself with donor sperm in the comfort of her home.   Bailey Ennis, 24, decided to go it alone and have a baby via sperm donor in September 2021 because she was desperate to be a mum and didn’t have a desire to be in a relationship.   She had always wanted to have a child and found an experienced donor online who lived nearby and purchased an artificial insemination kit for £25. 00:04 I'm Bailey-Rae Ennis. I'm a 24-year-old single woman and I got pregnant via sperm donation.

00:10 I decided last year in August that I wanted to be a mum by myself.

00:27 I had no kind of desire to be in a relationship and I thought this was the best option for me.

00:32 I'm better off being independent and so that's why I decided that it would be better to be by myself to do this.

00:39 I started looking on sperm donor websites. I made sure that I filtered my options down to

00:50 the healthiest person I could find and the person who lived closest to me.

00:55 My donor was a yoga teacher so he's like very fit and healthy which is something that I'd like to

01:01 another donor. It's like a normal online transaction you just check out and it gets delivered to you.

01:06 Baby is not allowed to know the donor until they're 18 or most of the time that's the scenario.

01:11 So I wanted him to have the option to meet the donor in the future.

01:15 The price of the insemination kit was £24.99 and obviously I paid delivery too.

01:20 I expected it maybe to take three cycles but it worked the first time which I was really really happy about.
