President Marcos mentions the success of Kadiwa stores and added that the government aims to boost local agricultural production and food security. #SONA2023

00:00 In the past few months, we have seen the price of goods

00:04 being lowered in various sectors.

00:07 We have proven that we can lower the price of rice,

00:11 meat, fish, vegetables, and sugar.

00:14 The Kadiwa Store is a great help

00:17 that we have revived and launched.

00:20 The Kadiwa's goal is to empower farmers and buyers.

00:27 There is no other way to earn money.

00:30 There is no need to spend more.

00:33 It is good to earn money by farming.

00:36 It also saves the buyers.

00:39 Of the more than 7,000 Kadiwa stores in the Philippines,

00:44 1.8 million families benefited from the low price of goods.

00:50 In total, almost P700 million were sold

00:55 which gave livelihoods to more than 3,000 members

01:02 of the cooperative and association.

01:04 We have seen good results,

01:07 so we will continue to promote Kadiwa throughout the country.

01:11 Kadiwa has joined forces with government agencies

01:22 to strengthen Kadiwa.

01:26 We will support the whole sector of agriculture

01:29 and the local government.

01:32 Our aim is to boost our local agricultural production

01:36 through consolidation, modernization,

01:38 mechanization, and improvement of value change,

01:41 augmented by timely and calibrated importation as needed.

01:47 We have seen 2.2% increase in the sector of agriculture

01:51 in the first three months of this year.

01:55 In our quest for food security,

01:57 our methods are now more guided by science

02:01 and the balance of nature,

02:02 so that production is both sustainable and responsible,

02:06 benefiting both this and future generations.

02:10 Our fisheries codes must be revised

02:14 to incorporate and strengthen science-based analysis

02:17 and determination of fishing areas.

02:19 This approach will protect both the interests of our fisherfolk

02:23 and our fisheries and aquatic resources.

02:26 To this end, we will seek the support of Congress

02:29 to amend the code to guarantee sustainable development

02:33 of our fishery sector in harmony with environmental balance.

02:43 We will support farmers through farm and fisheries clustering

02:50 and livestock multiplier farms.

02:53 We have already targeted 300 clusters,

02:56 which are formed by almost 100 cooperatives,

02:59 and have an area of more than 200,000 hectares of land.

03:04 To speed up and facilitate the formation of cooperatives,

03:09 we will need the support of Congress

03:12 to amend the cooperative code.

03:18 their production and market strength will gradually increase.

04:26 We provided more than 100,000 bale of corn

04:30 and planted almost 10,000 hectares of land in the country.

04:36 All these bales are new, hybrid, and of high quality.

04:41 As the price of gasoline and fat increased,

04:45 the fuel and fertilizer discount vouchers

04:50 that we provided to the poor farmers were brought down.

04:55 We immediately gave the donations we received from China.

05:03 One of the reasons for the price increase

05:06 is smugglers, hoarders,

05:10 and those who manipulate the price of agricultural products.

05:15 We are chasing them and we will hunt them down.

05:24 They are doing wrong things

05:27 and it does not match our good intentions.

05:31 They are committing fraud.

05:34 It is not only the farmers who are in danger,

05:37 but also us, the buyers.

05:40 That is why we will not allow this to happen.

05:44 These days are numbered for smugglers and hoarders.
