Biden Administration Reveals , Cybersecurity Labeling Program for Smart Devices.
The U.S. Cyber Trust Mark initiative was announced on July 18, CNN reports.
It is intended to help consumers pick smart devices that are less susceptible to hacking.
It will allow Americans
to confidently identify which
internet- and Bluetooth-connected devices are cybersecure, Anne Neuberger, deputy national security adviser, via NBC News.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will oversee the initiative. .
Industry participants include
"Amazon, Best Buy, Google, LG Electronics USA, Logitech and Samsung," NBC News reports.
Smart devices will display a
"Cyber Trust" label as soon as next year.

In order to receive a "Cyber Trust" label, products must comply with criteria determined by the National Institute
of Standards and Technology.
Those products will then be subject to
yearly re-certification, according to a
senior Biden administration official. .
