Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhwinder Singh assures to rescue stranded tourists in 16 hours

Following the devastating situation in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rainfall and flash floods, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh during his visit to Kullu on July 11, said that all the stranded tourists will be rescued in the next 16 hours if the rain stops.
"If the rain stops for the next 8 hours, we will rescue all the stranded tourists. We rescued 7 people from Chandratal. About 250 people are trapped in Chandratal, whom we will rescue. Currently, there is a power failure in Kullu. We are working to restore it latest by tomorrow," said Sukhwinder Singh.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), on July 11, issued "red" and "orange" alerts for several districts of the hill state for the next 24 hours.
The rains have wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh triggering landslides, causing power disruption, blocking roads, and damaging bridges.
Tourists were stranded in parts of the hill state, with the loss of infrastructure estimated at between Rs 3,000 crore and Rs. 4,000 crore.
"If the rain stops for the next 8 hours, we will rescue all the stranded tourists. We rescued 7 people from Chandratal. About 250 people are trapped in Chandratal, whom we will rescue.
