A young man has been murdered after being stabbed at an apartment in Digbeth on Thursday. Police were called to an apartment in Bradford Street just after 6am. Three people - two men, aged 18 and 21, and a 20-year-old woman - were arrested on suspicion of murder.

A man who beat his girlfriend to death before pretending to her family she had been killed in a hit-and-run has been jailed for life. Alan Edney of Handsworth murdered Kerry Owen, before dumping her body in a ditch along a remote country lane. He was jailed for life and will serve a minimum of 20 years behind bars.

Tenants in Birmingham are paying more to keep a roof over their heads than before the coronavirus pandemic, new figures show. Housing charity Shelter said private renters are "facing a crisis like never before".
