Wales headlines 9th May: Whale washes up on Welsh beach
  • last year
A sperm whale has been spotted washed up on a beach in north Wales. The Abersoch Coastguard Rescue Team announced the sighting and has urged the public to not approach the animal, which experts confirmed was dead. A postmortem will take place to find out what happened to the creature before it died.

A rally has taken place calling on decision makers to provide more affordable housing, after an increase in second home ownership has priced people out of their local areas. Roughly a thousand people came to the march in Caernarfon to protest as the Welsh government say they are taking radical action to tackle the issue.

And it’s another day, another Welsh translation error, as a sign told drivers a road was closed for a ‘race for food’ - ras am fwyd - which was meant to say race for life - ras am fywyd. It’s the latest in a string of high profile mistakes, from the recent UK-wide alert to the oath to the king telling people to swear at god.
