Sheetala Ashtami 2023: इस दिन को बसौड़ा (Basoda) भी कहते हैं क्योंकि माता शीतला की पूजा में बसौड़ा अर्थात् बासी भोजन का भोग लगाया जाता है. परंतु, कम ही लोग इस बात से परिचित हैं कि आखिर अन्य देवी-देवताओं की तरह माता शीतला को ताजे पकवानों के भोग क्यों नहीं लगाए जाते और भक्त स्वयं भी इस दिन ताजा प्रसाद ग्रहण क्यों नहीं करते हैं. इसके पीछे एक दिलचस्प पौराणिक कथा छिपी है.

Sheetala Ashtami 2023: This day is also called Basoda because Basoda means stale food is offered in the worship of Mata Sheetla. But, very few people are aware that why fresh dishes are not offered to Mata Sheetla like other deities and why the devotees themselves do not receive fresh offerings on this day. There is an interesting legend hidden behind it.
