Nach einem Nervenzusammenbruch enthebt man Captain Holling seines Kommandos. An seine Stelle tritt Captain Downey, der das Schiff just übernimmt, als es für ein Fernsteuerungsexperiment eingesetzt werden soll. Professor Grimson hat ein System entwickelt, mit dem Schiffe vom Land aus gesteuert werden können. Aber als er das System demonstriert, belauschen ausländische Agenten die Vorführung. Kurz darauf wird der Professor angegriffen und tödlich verwundet...
