When I went down to the darkness and hissing It was because she said her sister was missing She had been hanging out with some who were suspicious I didn’t like the crowd that surrounded her I’m judging the story trying to find if it’s fictitious
I didn’t trust the look in her eyes But I didn’t know enough to chastise So I artificially bumped up the price To see if she was completely serious No one pulling a scam would make such a sacrifice
She must have seen me lick my lips When she pulled out the bills from their clips She broke my train of thought of what I would buy By asking if she could trust me to find her Only after I assured her would she say goodbye
When I went down to the darkness and the street I didn’t see any men out in the heat The women cops mugged in my direction I waved at them and tipped my hat They acted like they didn’t understand the deflection
A burnout was spinning a glass bottle While the drivers fought to hit the throttle A fight broke out in front of the path Of the club where they sold the town’s junk The broken people outside showed the aftermath
She dragged me into the darkness of the underground shoot I realized what was the problem’s root When I confronted the producer she said It’s not our problem if people move here Only not to make it anywhere but someone’s bed
The corrupt politicians didn’t like the shape of my nose But that is just always how this goes I got a few that said cease and desist That’s how you know you’ve got ‘em in a corner That’s when the women cops brought down the fist
When I went down to the darkness of the jail They told me I would certainly fail They hit me with all their hoses and wires Tied the noose around my neck and Threatened me with what the gas chamber requires
I tried to give my side of the story We don’t like that one in our territory They told me and was denied a defender As they laughed at all my rights They said by the end I’d be in a blender
I went to the cinema when I was let out I was rubbing all the bruises starting to sprout The two goons in front turned back to look At me as the previews were starting I started to write them in my black book
But they both got up and pointed their hands As if they were guns giving scans I stayed in my seat to see the sister And her film on the big screen The audio came in as on a transistor
The picture flickered and shook The plot was missing but I was to overlook As I stared intently at the visible frown That the star wore so wearingly on her face As she began to drop for all her gown
I was too disgusted to stay for the ending In the world all faces were blending My hands were in my pocket without a clue Of who or what to do for my next move The interest on the junk was starting to accrue
I saw a girl huddled up in a coat And I realized I’d seen her promote The film of the girl in the previews I knew I’d have to question her But she wouldn’t budge without any booze
