So I got tired of my job and left And then I became one of those security guards Whose job isn’t really to prevent theft But was rather most focused on people in the yards Telling them don’t stand so close to the painting Standing and pacing until my feet turned blue I found the whole process so incredibly draining That all around me I started seeing things in a warped view

I saw one suspicious man and followed him Because I knew that the character was a weird guy He was overdressed and looking pretty prim And even though I called out for him he didn’t comply He walked in a way that told me I might not exist I started thinking hey you’re not following the script He started poking around the corners and I wondered if I could assist Before I knew it he’d went into a crypt

The painting I was to guard was disgusting and frightening The woman’s hands and face were distorted Her dress was disheveled and the background was full of lightning I couldn’t follow her eyes no matter how I contorted The hair out of her hat crawled out like worms I could feel them in my skin whenever I sat down I wanted to spray the woman to remove all her germs But there she sat looking devilish in her gown

A group of teenagers walked in and I realized they were protestors I knew it was my job to stop them and not hear them out Because I had to protect the work of the donators and investors They marched into my area and I heard them begin to shout They began to head towards her misplaced and giant hands They brought out the glue and the paint and I wouldn’t stop them I looked at her and I knew I agreed with their plans While they stayed and chanted I had nothing to condemn
