Watch the adorable moment a deaf five-year-old boy reacts to seeing a TV character wearing a cochlear implant just like him. Felicia Aquilo, 31, recorded her son Silas Aquilo’s joy after spotting the hearing device whilst watching the series ‘Dino Dana’ at their home. The Canadian children’s TV series, released in 2018, features a character who appears to be wearing a hearing aid, a device that helps to amplify sounds and channel them into the user's ear. The video shows Silas, from Canton, Ohio, enthusiastically signing ‘"Wow, he’s deaf!" repeatedly whilst beaming after seeing a main character wearing the same device he uses. Silas was born profoundly deaf and now uses bilateral cochlear implants and American Sign Language (ASL), however he still struggles with communication at times. She said: “Silas knows that he is different because he has to wear devices to be able to access sound. “He was excited to see a little boy on his favorite show that had a hearing device just like him. He asks to watch that scene frequently and has the same reaction every time. “It shows him that he is capable of anything despite his hearing loss.” This video was filmed in October 2022.
