Amazon is preparing layoffs that could total about 10,000 workers as the company continues to cut costs. The cuts could primarily affect Amazon’s devices business such as its Alexa products as well as its human resources and retail side of the business. The decisions are being made on a team-by-team basis and are affecting both its corporate employees, warehouse employees, and global workforce. Amazon has already started laying off contractors working, who in the past few weeks were told that their assignments were abruptly ending.
