Tesla CEO Elon Musk has fired Omead Afshar, the company’s VP of manufacturing and operations, following a continued decline in car sales across key markets, particularly in Europe. Afshar, who oversaw several high-level executives, had previously been investigated internally in 2022 over construction material orders for a secret project led by Musk. Despite a recent promotion and public praise for Musk, Afshar was dismissed, as first reported by Forbes. His departure follows the resignation of Milan Kovac, head of Tesla’s Optimus robotics program. Tesla’s stock is down 19% this year, with sales slipping and competition from cheaper Chinese EVs rising. The company also faces reputational challenges linked to Musk’s political activity, including support for Trump’s reelection and Germany’s far-right AfD party.
