Twitter ($TWTR@US) unveiled its edit button on Thursday, relenting to demands from millions of users to add the function to its platform. For a long time, the social media platform has stood by its decision not to provide an edit button. They argued that a user with malintent could change the contents of a tweet after it had been shared, and someone who had hearted or retweeted the message could miss the edits. But in the end, they decided to give the people what they want. This is the biggest update to the platform since it increased a tweet’s character count from 140 to 280 in 2017.
