There has been a hearing in the Supreme Court regarding a law whose legality has been questioned. The matter pertains to the sedition law, the petition challenging the validity of which was heard in the Supreme Court. On this issue, the AG took up the Navneet Rana case in the court, in which a case of sedition was made on a statement of Hanuman Chalisa being played. On the other hand, Kapil Sibal argued that it is the law of the British era, that every day journalists and others are arrested after registering a case of sedition.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट में एक ऐसे कानून को लेकर सुनवाई हुई है, जिसकी कानूनी-वैधता पर सवाल उठते रहे हैं। मामला देशद्रोह कानून का है, जिसकी वैधता को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका पर सुप्राीम कोर्ट में सुनवाई हुई। इस मसले पर एजी ने नवनीत राणा मामले को कोर्ट में उठाया, जिसमें हनुमान चालीसा बजाए जाने के एक बयान पर देशद्रोह का केस बना दिया गया था। वहीं कपिल सिब्बल ने इसे अंग्रेजो के जमाने का कानून बताते हुए तर्क रखा, कि आए-दिन पत्रकारों और अन्य पर देशद्रोह का मामला दर्ज कर, उन्हें गिरफ्तार कर लिया जाता है।
