उत्तर प्रदेश के एमएलसी चुनाव में बड़ा परिवर्तन देखने को मिला है. क्योंकि जिस आजमगढ़ को सपा का गढ़ माना जाता है, खुद अखिलेश यादव यहां से मोदी लहर में भी लोकसभा चुनाव में बड़ी जीत हासिल की थी. साथ ही विधानसभा चुनाव में जिले की सभी 10 सीटों पर जीत हासिल की थी. लेकिन एमएलसी चुनाव में उसी सपा को यहां हार का मुंह देखने पड़ा.
