Ancient Roman-era ring bearing ‘Good Shepherd’ symbol discovered in Israeli shipwreck site
  • 2 years ago
A Roman-era “Good Shepherd” gold ring has been discovered in a shipwreck site off the ancient port of Caesarea in Israel. Experts had identified two shipwrecks at the location where a collection of coins and figurines from both the third and 14th century were also found. Researchers say the gold ring could possibly have been owned by a wealthy citizen at a time when the Roman Empire was said to have been relatively tolerant of new forms of religions, including Christianity.
