Omicron Tally In India Goes Up To 38 With Fresh Case In Kerala, Maharashtra Has Highest Number

Kerala reports its first case of Omicron variant. On December 12, state Health Minister Veena George confirmed the same. And with this, the total cases of Omicron variant in India reaches 38. A 40-year-old man who came back from South Africa via Delhi tested positive with the variant in Maharashtra's Nagpur. With this, the number of infections in Maharashtra has reached 18. Rajasthan & Karnataka have recorded 9 & 3 cases respectively. Gujarat & Andhra Pradesh have recorded 3 & 1 cases respectively. Delhi has recorded 2 cases and Chandigarh has one case. Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research's unit in Assam has developed a new testing kit that can detect Omicron in two hours.
