The festival of Dev Diwali is celebrated after 15 days of Diwali. It is believed that on this day Lord Shiva killed the demon Tripurasura. Pleased with which the gods donated a lamp in the city of Kashi. Since then this day came to be known as Dev Diwali. Therefore, this festival is mainly celebrated in Kashi with great pomp. People from far and wide reach Banaras and light the lamp on this occasion.

दिवाली के 15 दिनों के बाद देव दिवाली का पर्व मनाया जाता है। मान्यता है कि इस दिन भगवान शिव ने त्रिपुरासुर राक्षस का वध किया था। जिससे प्रसन्न होकर देवताओं ने काशी नगरी में दीप दान किया। तभी से इस दिन को देव दिवाली के नाम से जाने जाना लगा। इसलिए काशी में मुख्य रूप से इस पर्व को धूम धाम से मनाया जाता है। दूर-दूर से लोग इस मौके पर बनारस पहुंचकर दीप प्रज्जवलित करते हैं।
