The festival of Dev Diwali comes after 15 days of Diwali, the festival of lights. Dev Diwali is celebrated on the day of Kartik Purnima. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm in different states of the country, especially Varanasi. It is believed that on this day Shiva killed the demon Tripurasur and Vishnu took the Matsya avatar. That's why it is also called Dev Diwali 2021. Bathing in holy rivers and donating lamps has special significance on this day. Dev Diwali will be celebrated on 19th November. Deepdan is done on this day- On the day of Dev Diwali, after bathing with the water of the holy river, lamp should be donated . This lamp is done on the banks of the river. It has nothing to do with Diwali. Due to the tradition of ethos, lamps are donated on a large scale on the banks of the Ganges in Varanasi on this day. It is called Dev Deepawali in Varanasi.Why is it called Dev Diwali- It is believed that Lord Shiva killed the demon Tripurasura on the full moon day of Kartik month. In the joy of killing Tripurasur, the deities lit many lamps in Kashi. This is the reason that even today Diwali is celebrated every year in Kashi on the full moon of Kartik month. Since this Diwali was celebrated by the gods, that is why it is called Dev Diwali.
दीपावली के 15 दिनों के बाद कार्तिक पूर्णिमा (Kartik Purnima 2021) के दिन देव दिवाली पर्व मनाया जाता है। इस वर्ष यह दिन शुक्रवार, 19 नवंबर 2021 को पड़ रहा है। देव दिवाली के दिन पवित्र नदी के जल से स्नान करके दीपदान करना चाहिए. ये दीपदान नदी के किनारे किया जाता है. इसका दीपावली से कोई संबंध नहीं है. लोकाचार की परंपरा होने के कारण वाराणसी में इस दिन गंगा किनारे बड़े स्तर पर दीपदान किया जाता है. इसको वाराणसी में देव दीपावली कहा जाता है. ऐसी मान्यता है कि कार्तिक मास की पूर्णिमा के दिन भगवान शिव ने त्रिपुरासुर राक्षस का वध किया था. त्रिपुरासुर के वध की खुशी में देवताओं ने काशी में अनेकों दीए जलाए. यही कारण है कि आज भी हर साल कार्तिक मास की पूर्णिमा पर काशी में दिवाली मनाई जाती है. चूंकि ये दीवाली देवों ने मनाई थी, इसीलिए इसे देव दिवाली कहा जाता है.
