छठ पूजा का पर्व सूर्य देव को समर्पित है, जो पृथ्वी पर जीवन का वरदान देते हैं। यह त्योहार भगवान सूर्य को धन्यवाद देने और कुछ इच्छाओं को पूरा करने के लिए कहने के लिए मनाया जाता है। यह प्राचीन हिंदू वैदिक त्योहार विशेष रूप से बिहार, पूर्वी उत्तर प्रदेश, झारखंड और नेपाल राज्यों के माघई लोगों, मैथिल और भोजपुरी लोगों द्वारा मनाया जाता है। छठ पूजा को सूर्य षष्ठी के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, जो कार्तिक माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की चतुर्थी तिथि से शुरू होती है और कार्तिक शुक्ल सप्तमी पर समाप्त होती है। चार दिनों तक अनुष्ठान किए जाते हैं।

The festival of Chhath Puja is dedicated to the Sun God, who bestows the boon of life on earth. This festival is celebrated to thank Lord Surya and ask him to fulfill certain wishes. This ancient Hindu Vedic festival is celebrated especially by the Maghai people, Maithil and Bhojpuri people of the states of Bihar, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Nepal. Chhath Puja also known as Surya Shashthi begins on Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month and ends on Kartik Shukla Saptami. The rituals are performed for four days.
