According to the Hindi calendar, the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapad month is known as Varivarti Ekadashi. Vamana avatar of Lord Vishnu is worshiped on this day. According to religious belief, Lord Vishnu changes the direction of Bhadrapada Shukla Ekadashi in Yoga Nidra, for this reason this Ekadashi is called Parivartini Ekadashi. It is also called Vamana Ekadashi, Parshva Ekadashi or Jayanti Ekadashi. As you know that Lord Vishnu goes into Yoga Nidra from Devshayani Ekadashi, since then Chaumasa or Chaturmasya starts. Chaturmas is going on at this time. On the day of Devuthani Ekadashi, they will come out of yoga nidra, then auspicious work like marriage, marriage, shaving etc. will start again. Manglik works are banned in Chaturmas.

हिन्दी पंचांग के अनुसार भाद्रपद मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी को परिवर्तिनी एकादशी के नाम से जाना जाता है। इस दिन भगवान विष्णु के वामन अवतार की पूजा की जाती है। धार्मिक मान्यता के अनुसार, भगवान विष्णु योग निद्रा में भाद्रपद शुक्ल एकादशी को करवट बदलते हैं, इस कारण से इस एकादशी को परिवर्तिनी एकादशी कहते हैं। इसे वामन एकादशी, पार्श्व एकादशी या जयंती एकादशी भी कहा जाता है। जैसा कि आपको पता है कि भगवान विष्णु देवशयनी एकादशी से योग निद्रा में चले जाते हैं, तब से चौमासा या चातुर्मास प्रारंभ हो जाता है। इस समय चातुर्मास चल रहा है। देवउठनी एकादशी के दिन वे योग निद्रा से बाहर आएंगे, फिर विवाह, लगन, मुंडन आदि जैसे मांगलिक कार्य फिर से प्रारंभ हो जाएंगे। चातुर्मास में मांगलिक कार्यों पर पाबंदी होती है।
