Millions Of T-Mobile Customers Hacked
T-Mobile ($TMUS@US) confirmed on Monday that hackers stole data on nearly 49 million customers. The hackers offered to sell the data for six bitcoin, worth roughly $250,000. The mobile carrier now says the stolen data includes first and last names, dates of birth, social security numbers, and driver's license information. T-Mobile has promised to give away two years of free identity protection services through McAfee’s ID Theft Protection Service and will encourage customers to sign up for T-Mobile’s Account Takeover Protection service. The company is also encouraging everyone to change their PIN. T Mobile also plans to publish a special website at some point on Wednesday to reveal more information about the hack.
