US Covid-19 Cases Surge Due To Delta Variant, Senator Lindsey Graham Tests Positive Despite Being Fully Vaccinated

Senator Lindsey Graham said on August 2 that he had tested positive for Covid-19 even after being fully vaccinated. He said in a statement he started experiencing flu-like symptoms on July 31 night & went to the US House physician on August 2 morning. "I feel like I have a sinus infection and at present time I have mild symptoms," Graham, who will be quarantined for 10 days, said. Over the weekend, Graham attended a party on fellow Senator Joe Manchin’s houseboat, as per Graham's office. Authorities and health experts stress that the vaccines remain remarkably effective at preventing serious illness and death from Covid-19. Meanwhile, the seven-day average of daily Covid-19 cases in the US surpassed the peak seen last summer when the nation didn’t have an authorised Covid-19 vaccine, CDC Director Dr Rochelle Walensky said on August 2, citing data published over the weekend. US Covid-19 cases, based on a seven-day moving average, reached 72,790 on July 30, as per data compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Watch the video to know more.
