Born in a poor family, Mirabai is the youngest of her six siblings. His father worked as a construction worker in the State Public Works Department of Imphal, while his mother used to run a small tea pakode shop in the village itself. The salary of the father was only so that the family could survive. But poverty cannot stop any talent from progressing and Chanu has proved it. Rajat Sethi, who works as an advisor to the Chief Minister of Manipur, shared the photo on his Twitter account. One can see his family sitting with other people and they are eating in the same simple way sitting on the ground.


एक गरीब परिवार में जन्मी मीराबाई अपने छह भाई-बहनों में सबसे छोटी हैं। उनके पिता इंफाल के स्टेट पब्लिक वर्क्स डिपार्टमेंट में कंस्ट्रक्शन वर्कर का काम करते थे जबकि उनकी माता गांव में ही चाय पकौड़े की छोटी सी दुकान चलाती थी। पिता की सैलरी केवल इतनी ही थी कि परिवार का बस गुजर ही हो सके। लेकिन गरीबी किसी भी प्रतिभा को आगे बढ़ने से नहीं रोक सकती और चानू ने यह बात साबित कर दी है।मणिपुर के चीफ मिनिस्टर के सलाहकार के तौर पर काम करने वाले रजत सेठी ने अपने ट्विटर अकाउंट पर जो फोटो शेयर की है उसमें आप मीराबाई को उनके परिवार के अन्य लोगों के साथ बैठा देख सकते हैं और वे जमीन पर उसी साधारण तरीके से बैठकर खाना खा रहे हैं।
