The Lord Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala threw open its doors to devotees on Saturday morning, for the first time since a ban was imposed on pilgrims entering the shrine in light of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. Only 5,000 devotees who have booked slots through the virtual queue will be allowed to enter the premises. Entry into the temple will be permitted only to those who carry Covid-19 negative certificates from RT-PCR tests done within 48 hours or those who have taken both shots of vaccines.
