Sabarimala temple row escalates in Kerala, 11 women devotees blocked at Nilakkal base camp

The Sabarimala temple row escalates further in Kerala after a group of protesters chased away 11 women devotees who tried to trek up to the Kerala shrine. However, a few protesters were detained by police after they turned violent. Team of women will be shifted to Nilakkal base camp now. They are likely to return without offering Darshan. The district magistrate has extended the prohibitory orders in and around Sabarimala till December 27. The order 144 prohibits unlawful gathering and protest in the region. A number of unsuccessful attempts have been made by female activists and devotees to access the shrine after the Supreme Court’s verdict.
