Trump signs COVID relief and government funding bill after lengthy delay

Tens of millions of out-of-work Americans could see their unemployment benefits extended,....as President Trump has finally put pen to paper on a relief bill after days of delay.
However, he says he wants to see a lot of fat cut off so Americans get more than the 600 dollars outlined in the original bill.

Shortly after tweeting 'good news to follow',... U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a massive 2-point-three trillion dollar stimulus package.
That bill sets aside 9-hundred billion dollars to extend COVID-19 unemployment benefits for jobless gig workers and self-employed people.
Some 12 million people whose checks were due to expire this weekend,... could receive the benefits for another 11 weeks.
All those who are eligible for such benefits could also get an extra 3-hundred dollar weekly boost until mid-March.
The package also extends federal eviction protections, allowing millions to keep a roof over their heads despite failing to pay their rent.
Besides the COVID relief funds, the package includes 1-point-4 trillion dollars for normal government spending.
With Trump's much-postponed signing to the bill, the U.S. avoided a government shutdown when the fund was due to expire on Tuesday.
The legislation was passed by Congress on last Monday.
But it took days to get the signature from Trump, who opposed the 6-hundred dollar direct payments to those with incomes below 75-thousand dollars.
He said the money, which would be sent out to most Americans, is too small.
"I am asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low 600 dollars to 2,000 dollars or 4,000 dollars for a couple."
Trump's objection to the bill was largely seen as a surprise, given that it was written and supported by his own aides, including Treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin.
While Trump still maintains his public stance against the law,... Americans and Congress have avoided immediate chaos.
