The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has authorized Pfizer and BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use.
According to the New York Times on Friday, President Trump said the vaccine shots will be rolled out within 24 hours.
This makes the U.S. the sixth country to adopt the vaccine in the world after the UK, Canada, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico.
Reuters reported that healthcare workers and elderly people in long-term care facilities would be the first to receive the first round of almost three million doses of the vaccine this month.
