Biden names women in key economic roles, including Yellen for Treasury Secretary

U.S. President-elect Joe Biden showed he is serious about diversity by naming several women to his economic policy team, including the nomination of Janet Yellen for Treasury Secretary.
The team will be tasked with creating a recovery plan for the pandemic-hit U.S. economy.

U.S. President-elect Joe Biden displayed a continued effort to reflect the diversity of America by naming several women among the official nominees for his administration's economic policy team.
On Monday, Biden appointed Janet Yellen as Treasury Secretary, along with three other women in the top ranks to help recover the U.S. economy,… which has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yellen had previously served as the first female Federal Reserve chair and as senior economic adviser for former President Bill Clinton
If confirmed by the Senate… Yellen would make history as the first woman to lead the department in 231 years.
The hearing for Yellen could take place before inauguration day on January 20th.
Along with Yellen, the incoming administration has also appointed three women to serve as top economic leaders.
Neera Tanden was appointed as director of the Office of Management and Budget.
Tanden will be the first woman of color and first South Asian American to direct the department, if confirmed by the Senate.
Biden also named Cecilia Rouse, a top Princeton economist, as the chair of the Council of Economic Advisers.
If confirmed, she would be the first woman of color to lead the team.
Heather Boushey is also expected to serve on the Council with Rouse.
Wally Adeyemo, was also nominated as the first African-American deputy Treasury secretary with Brian Deese making up the team as head of the National Economic Council.
