Pence and Harris Face-Off in, Vice Presidential Debate.
The single debate between the
vice presidential candidates took place in Salt Lake City.
It was moderated by Susan Page of 'USA Today.'.
The candidates were socially distanced and
separated by plexiglass protectants.
The tone of this debate was wildly different
from the first debate between President Donald Trump
and Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
The issues addressed by the
candidates in the first few segments
included the health of the presidential candidates.
taxes, the economy,
climate change and health care.
The candidates sparred specifically over Trump's tax cuts.
Pence hammered the point that repealing
the cut will lead to a raise in taxes.
Harris affirmed that Biden would not raise taxes
for those who make less than $400,000 a year.
Pence asked Harris directly about whether or not
the Biden / Harris administration would pack
the Supreme Court if they were elected to the White House.
Harris responded that the Trump administration
has packed the federal appeals court system with
"ideological" judges, not one of whom is black.
When Pence was asked whether he thought
justice was done in the case of Breona Taylor,
he responded, "I trust our justice system.".
When asked about accepting
the outcome of the 2020 election,
Harris appealed to the American people to "please vote.".
Pence was pressed about what he would do to ensure the peaceful transfer of power in the event of a Biden election.
He stated he believed his ticket would win
