Staff at Aurangabad Civil Hospital made the day of a coronavirus positive mother. The hospital arranged for a video call between her and the newborn baby girl. The baby girl tested negative and hence was kept in a separate room to avoid contact with the COVID-19 positive mother. Dr Sunder Kulkarni, Civil Surgeon, Aurangabad Civil Hospital said, “On April 18, at 12:40 pm, the baby girl was born. We were of the opinion that the baby would test negative for coronavirus and she indeed tested negative. But as the mother was COVID-19 positive, we could not keep the mother and baby together. A doctor and a nurse were assigned to take care of the baby in a separate room. One day we thought of making the mother and baby meet through video calling. This gesture brought a smile on the face of the baby girl and the mother was also satisfied.”
